What is in the snapshot
The record date is October 23, 2026. Counts below describe that file, not a live query made by your browser.
Projects come from the NRC pre-application activity table and the advanced-reactor application project list. Each linked project page is read for the fact table, overview, milestones, and activity table. Contact blocks and subscription forms are dropped before text is stored. 49 projects are in the file, of which 3 match a floating or maritime sentence on the NRC page.
Federal Register notices are the NRC documents published on or after January 1, 2026 (408 results; “Documents published on or after 01/01/2026 and from Nuclear Regulatory Commission”) plus a small set of Department of Energy notices whose title and abstract discuss advanced reactors, nuclear reactors, SMRs, or microreactors. A DOE search hit whose abstract is about something else is dropped. Regulations.gov is not queried unless an API key is present. This build did not set one.
A notice is in the weekly scope when its title or abstract matches the advanced-reactor terms, or when it is tied to a project. A tie means the notice shares a docket printed on that project’s own NRC page, or the notice title contains the project name or the design string. Sharing a loose word is not enough. 62 of 411 stored notices are in scope.
The week is Monday through Sunday. The issue id is the following Monday, and it is published only when that Sunday is already before the snapshot date. If the actions, deadlines, headlines, and status changes add up to fewer than the minimum (3 unless MIN_ISSUE_ITEMS is set), the week is logged in the skip file and is not published. Status changes need a previous project list. This snapshot has none, so that section says so instead of inventing a change.
Headlines are titles and links from three feeds. NRC headlines have to mention construction permits, early site permits, advanced reactors, or a tracked project. DOE headlines have to mention reactors, nuclear, SMR, HALEU, fuel, or criticality. World Nuclear News headlines use the same advanced-reactor terms as the notice filter. A title that taps, appoints, or names a person under a job title is dropped. The summary line is “Headline from [source], published [date].” Article text is not copied.
Meetings come from the NRC public meeting schedule. Staff contact blocks are removed before the text is read. Spent fuel, medical, emergency-action-level, enrichment, and certificate-of-compliance meetings are excluded. The title is kept as the NRC wrote it.
Where a Federal Register title or abstract names a person with an honorific, or lists an administrative-judge panel, the stored text replaces that name with “[name omitted]” or “[names omitted]”. The document number and the official URL are unchanged.
Milestone dates are copied from the NRC page, including a year that does not match a neighboring accession number. This site does not correct the page. Docket identifiers are copied the same way. Federal Register notice 2026-16975 lists the docket field “Docket No. 05-614”, stored here as 05-614, and that string is not rewritten to a different number.
ADAMS search was requested without a subscription key and returned HTTP 401. The legacy host did not resolve. No key was created. ADAMS documents are not in this snapshot.
Wikipedia traffic is the Wikimedia pageviews API for “Small modular reactor” in 2026-09: 14,905 views, all-access, agent user. API response. That is not this site’s audience.
Optional model summaries stay off unless a key exists and LLM_MONTHLY_COST_CAP_USD is above zero. The default cap is 0. No model was called for this snapshot.
